Flew into Darwin about 1 am this morning, about 2 by the time the shuttle got to the hostel and about 3 when I stopped reading to go to sleep.
Met a lovely lady on the plane. She was carrying a bike helmet so I asked where she was riding to. Perth she said. She then went on to tell me that she was riding from Darwin to Perth, over 4000 km. She was doing it by herself, camping in the bush like we do and she was 76. Thats right 76 and she only started riding when she was 60 yo. Lizzie rides a Giant Yukon with a BOB trailer full of gear. I still reckon she would be faster than Joe.
Unpacked and assembled the bike this morning and then spent the day riding around town and shopping for food for the trip. Fair bit on the bike when it is all loaded.
Have a great adventure Tony & Joe.....hope you have brought plenty of puncture kits....the Gibb River Rd can be unforgiving. Regards Martin & Marie
ReplyDeleteJoe would be jealous about you finding a new ridding partner - faster, taller, better looking and _______ (fill-in the blank).
