Day 12 - 10062015 - Saddle Creek Rest stop to Kununurra - 110 km

Crept around in the dark packing up and got going by 7:30.

Great sunrise.

Great rock formations and weird boab trees along the road.  Good riding.  Wind moving around a bit, but mainly favourable to us.

We made good time and had done about 60 km to the Western Australian border by 11:00.  We had lunch there because we had to get rid of a lettuce before we passed the quarantine check.  Big queues at the border, but bikes get a special dispensation and do not have to queue.

More interesting rock formation just outside the Quarantine centre.

About 30 km from town, in the middle of nowhere, I was riding along and I saw an Aboriginal guy about 20 run out of the bush and run down the road, bare feet and with an iPod plugged into his ears.  WTF???  Gave him a wave and said Gidday and he kept running.

We pushed on and reached Kununurra about 12:30 WA time.

Unpowered camp site here about $50 per night so we decided to try the YHA.  They suggested that we stay in their associated Workers motel Kimberley Croc Lodge as the YHA was party central.  I told them we were not workers and that Joe was a party animal, but that we would stay there anyway.

Bunk room but at least we have our own shower and it is fantastic to clean the layers of sweat, sunscreen and dirt off.

Luckily they had their own waxing studio, so Joe got his back done.

Barra burger for tea washed down with a Steinlager Pure, a good Kiwi drop.
