Late getting up at Cocos. Packed up and headed for Maccas just up the street for breakfast. Had a chat to a soldier who was driving a 6 wheel drive Mercedes G-Wagen that will go anywhere. At $270,000 it would want to. Complete with gun racks and machine gun mount. The Army is going to use them as patrol vehicles.
Went back to Cocos packed up and went shopping for the next few days as we will be in the bush and will not hit a roadhouse for about 250 km.
Went and bought some gas for the stove from Simon Righton's son who works at the camping store in Katherine. Headed west about 10:30.
Strong cross wind, but made good time without the constant headwind. Stopped at Limestone rest stop for lunch after 55 km and stayed there for a few hours in the shade until the hottest part of the day was passed. Pedalled off again about 3:30 and did another 25 km where we camped in the bush for the night.
Pasta and sardines for tea, with laksa cup of soup. Magic.
6:54 in bed listening to wild dogs howling, cicadas chirping and the occasional truck going past.
