Day 5 - 03062015 - Adelaide River to Emerald Springs - 80km

Got up early, packed up and we're ready to leave as soon as it was light, about 7:00 am.  Said goodbye to Lizzie and we were on our way.  We left early because we wanted to get as much riding done before the sun came up and before the wind went crazy.  Our aim was to reach Pine Creek 111 km away.  Last year we were consistently doing 100 km plus days so we thought we could do it.

If you think the photo is blurry, check your eyesight..

Fantastic sunrise as we were riding along.

The air was heavy in the morning, but we managed to do 40 km by just after 9:00.  Not bad going, but then the wind and sun picked up.  Wind was 29 kms with gusts up to 33kmh.

Joe saw some wild pigs, but they didn't attack us which surprised me because I've been a bit of pig magnet the last few years.

We struggled to Hayes Creek by 11:30 where we had intravenous Gatoraide and a beef roll for lunch.  I love all the signs on the fridges up here. I liked this sign we saw.

The police came in while we were there and I asked them to take us to Pine Creek.  I'm sure they would of except they were going in the opposite direction. Bugger.

We gave up trying to get to Pine Creek and decided to make for Emerald Springs instead as we were looking forward to a swim.  Got there about 2:45. More Gatorade.  Turns out the springs has dried up, pool isn't in yet and toilets and showers will be up next month.  Still decided to stay, and used the disabled shower at the pub, door didn't lock either.

Joe kicked back and had a sleep.

Looks like a feed and an early night again.
