Wind was already blowing strongly when we headed off about 8 ish. It was a real slog to get to Pine Creek against the wind but we got there eventually.
We decided to catch the bus the rest of the way to save wasting time on a section we have ridden before.
Got tickets on the Greyhound bus which was meant to go at 10:20, got to Pine Creek well after 11:00 and drove straight off without stopping for us. Not happy. We hung around for the next one due at 2:20 which arrived about 3:30 and had to deal with an unhelpful arsehole of a driver because we weren't on his manifest.
Arrived at Katherine about 4:30 and we went directly to Cocos, a slightly hippie, funky, weird backpackers we stayed at last year. Coco loves cyclists, so he loves talking to us. It was pretty full, so we had to camp out the back like sardines with the chickens.
The men's shower was full, so I ducked into the women's and had a shower there...guess what they're just like men's showers.
We cooked a great barramundi and salad for dinner. In particular the salad that we had been craving. Sat around and had a chat with Coco and some of the other interesting characters that were staying there.
