Woke up about 5:00 because of the time difference.
We were going to see a guy to get Joe's bike fixed at 8:00, but Joe had a think overnight and found a solution. Basically, the spoke wasn't broken, just the head of the sleeve that connected it to the rim. So Joe replaced the sleeve from a spare spoke.

Well done Joe.
We packed up all our food and water and hit the road.
Good fast riding out of Kununurra. We stopped at the Cockburn rest stop for a short break and then on to the Gibb River Road junction. Road until we had done 70 km and had lunch...sandwiches Joe had made the day before.
It was hot riding after lunch and we both struggled with the uphills and the heat. Fantastic scenery though.
The Gibb River Road is a private road owned by about 5 cattle stations who historically used it for moving cattle to Broome.
I had originally intended for us to stay at Emma Gorge only 2 km off the road, until I heard the price...$350 a night including meals. Wow. So we decided not to stay there and moved on to El Questro, another resort style wilderness park that caters for campers $20/night. Only problem was 16 km of corrugated dirt road to get there. Ohh, also 2 river crossings.
First river crossing was OK, but second one across the Pentacost River was deeper so we had to remove our panniers and take the bikes over separately. Somehow Joe managed to lose his tent, tool kit and hat into the river. We didn't even notice until a guy waiting to cross the river mentioned it to us. I rescued the tent and then found the tool kit submerged in the water on the way back. The hat is still missing, so if anyone sees a dirty, filthy, dorky cream hat its Joe's and he wants it back.
We got to El Questro, checked in, had a shower and rushed to the bar for happy hour. Had a few drinks and then had a good dinner at the restaurant.
Think the hat is adorning a crocodile's living room... Well done guys!! :-)
